To: elp-digest-web@reluctant.com From: Robert Brandt Subject: Cleveland Date: 8/28/98 4:44 AM Ok, once again the "Rock Capital of the World" gets shafted on a concert. Blossom Music Center, with its tyrannical rules and curfews, was the site of what I felt to be yet another major f*** up on somebody's part. My ticket said the show started at 7. The paper said 8. The Scene Magazine said 7:30. I show up at 6:55 to find that Dream Theater (also a favorite of mine) have started at 6:30, therefore hardly anyone was there. After that, there is a surprisingly fast set up and ELP is ready to go no more than 15 minutes after DT leaves the stage. Great show! They open with "Crossing..", then into "Karn Evil 9.." and the rest of the normal setlist of this tour...ALL EXCEPT FOR "THE SHERIFF", "TOUCH AND GO", AND (THE BIIIIGGGG DISAPPOINTMENT) "A TIME AND A PLACE"!!! Now, I don't know the reasoning behind this drastic cutting down of the set, but I left feeling very angry at somebody. So angry that I left 3 songs into a very old and cliche looking/sounding Deep Purple set. Is this the new setlist, or has Cleveland been ripped off again by horribly run shows?? Is DT really going on this early?? Thanks, bob
